Aristotelis received his diploma from the National Technical University of Athens and his PhD from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After a short academic journey through the USA and Germany (Caltech, Universität Münster, Carnegie Mellon University), he is very happy to be joining the KGRC (and Vienna, in general).
His research focuses on the interplay between mathematical logic and topological dynamics. On the one hand, it employs tools from descriptive set theory and model theory in order to analyze the dynamics of large topological groups. On the other hand, it uses "wild" dynamical phenomena as obstructions to classifying of various mathematical objects from differential geometry, operator theory, algebraic topology, and other areas of mathematics.
