Curt Christian was born on May 30, 1920 in Linz. He initially studied medicine and received his doctorate in 1947. He then worked as a physician, including as a company doctor for various corporations. Meanwhile, he studied mathematics and logic and received his PhD in 1953 with a thesis on Nicolai Hartmann's modal analysis. He completed his habilitation in mathematical logic in 1957. In 1966 he became professor, in 1967 he founded the Institute for Logistics at the University of Vienna (the predecessor of the KGRC), in 1969 he became full professor, and in 1990 he became professor emeritus. He was an honorary professor at the Technical University of Vienna, a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences, a member of the Academy of Sciences in Bologna, and a recipient of the Ehrenmedaille der Bundeshauptstadt Wien in Gold.
He was also a member of the American Mathematical Society, Association of Symbolic Logic, Österreichische Mathematische Gesellschaft, Österreichische Computergesellschaft, Gesellschaft Sprachwissenschaften, Philosophiegesellschaft, and the Austrian Medical Association.
